Hi friends -- I just wrote a very long, extremely personal, carefully edited post recapping all of 2008, full of links; it took three solid hours to write; probably -- no, undoubtedly -- my best post ever. I was just about to publish it, went to add one last link, and Typepad crashed. Again. And took my post down with it. They're extremely busy at Typepad congratulating themselves for their auto-save feature; it saved exactly five words -- the title. Useless. If I were charging my standard writing and editing rates to Typepad for the time I've wasted on posts that disappear before publishing, they'd owe me a small fortune. Instead, I pay them.
So -- I'm not going to rewrite this one. I'm just not masochistic enough to spend three more hours with Typepad when life is short and the remaining hours of 2008 are few. It's lost, and I'm sorry, because I really wrote this one for you, my readers. But then, this year's been all about letting go, even when things and people let you down. C'est la vie. Happy New Year -- I'm off to pour a glass of wine and kiss the year goodbye. My advice? Wordpress. And thank you for reading, and I hope your celebrations tonight are peaceful and safe and full of reverie as we look back on one crazy year and look forward to a better one. The best is yet to come. Cheers!
