So here we are. It's March. The time changes this weekend -- always a day to celebrate in my book. We usually get a lot of snow in March and April, but it's been incredibly dry, both weather-wise and lifewise. But onward we go.
I will be going to Washington mid-month for four weeks, to do some consulting work with this organization in an office that is just a few blocks away from the Textile Museum. It's a long time to be away from home, but it will also be a refreshing change, good work, and a great time to be there, because, among other things. . . .
. . . there will be cherry blossoms. There's something wonderful about cherries and cherry trees, so without much else to offer today, I give you some cheerful cherry inspiration. And it doesn't escape me that the iconic clusters of three cherries are not unlike nature's version of the magical cintamani dots.
I've been coveting these earrings from the Victoria & Albert Museum shop in London for, oh, about three years now. I'm very tenacious when I find something (or someone) I really love.
Okay, these are olives, not cherries, but really close. This is a piece of very beautiful embroidered linen trim that I found at a charming shop in Oakland a few years ago - I can't remember the name of the store. The trim was very expensive, so I couldn't get much; they'd used it in a lovely way to edge an antique cabinet.

Cherries in the bowl: what life is.
Cherries on fabric: irresistible. (This fabric is from equilter.com.)
Enjoy the cherry blossoms (I'm envious) and glad you got some consulting work.
